Dead City is the fifth level of Painkiller: Battle out of Hell.

Description[]

This level is set in a big city and, as the name implies, is full of undead enemies. The level features gray skyscrapers and various buildings for urban use, such as car parks, shopping centers, office buildings, and even a museum. It appears that the city became abandoned very suddenly, since there are car wrecks on the streets and intersections and the lights in some windows are still turned on.

This level is inhabited mostly by zombies who previously were citizens of the city. They include:

Apocalyptic Zombies
Panzer Demons - they serve as a minibosses in the city.
Dragonflies
Preachers
Bones

The tarot card of this level is Demon Morph. To acquire it, the player has to finish the level in maximum 20 minutes.

Secret areas/pickups[]

Eleven armors can be found in this level:

The first one (silver) is located between two pillars in front of the museum's main entrance.
The third one (silver) is located behind some arcades of the building in the street with a metallic blockade.
The fourth one (silver) is located next to the lamppost on the street next to the tall bridge.
The fifth one (gold) is located on the roof between two apartment blocks with the one containing a fire escapes (it is connected with secret #2).
The seventh one (silver) is located in the gatehouse inside the overground parking lot.
The ninth one (gold) is located between some dumpsters outside the side entrance to the mall.
The tenth one (silver) is located next to the warehouse entrance on the street with a collapsed bridge.
The eleventh one (gold) is located on the collapsed bridge.

Secret	Description	Video
Secret 1	The first secret is located on the passage behind some arcades of the building in the street with a metallic blockade. It is reached by going into the checkpoint and then to the back of that passage and avoiding the fire at the same time.	Video
Secret 2	The second secret is located on the roof between two apartment blocks with the one containing a fire escape. It is reached by: First use the ladder to go onto the first fire escape. Then go onto the highest point and jump onto the second fire escape. Then go onto the highest point of second fire escape and use the window's ledges to reach a inaccessible floor of the first fire escape. Then jump onto the roof to collect the secret.	Video
Secret 3	The third secret is located behind some cars in the car park's lowest floor. It is reached by going behind that car to collect the goods.	Video
Secret 4	The fourth secret is located on the ledge of the mall's first floor next to the metallic barrier. It is reached by jumping from the footbridge that leads from car park to a mall onto the lowest ledge of the mall. Then try to jump onto other ledges until you reach the secret.	Video

Secret 1	The first secret is located on the passage behind some arcades of the building in the street with metallic blockade. It is reached by going into checkpoint and then to the back of that passage and avoiding the fire at the same time.	Video
Secret 2	The second secret is located on the left most fire escape when facing the building which has burning barricade of cars and fire in front of it. To reach it, the player has to climb onto the highest point of each of the fire escapes and jump onto another one. Then the player has to repeat this pattern until they reach the secret area.	Video
Secret 3	The third secret is located behind some cars in the car park's the lowest floor. It is reached by going behind that cars to collect the goods.	Video
Secret 4	The fourth secret is located on the ledge of the mall's first floor next to the metallic barrier. It is reached by jumping from footbridge that leads from car park to mall onto the lowest ledge of the mall. Then try to jump onto another ledges until you reach the secret.	Video

To reach it the player has to jump onto the garbage containers, then onto the fire exit and finally onto windowsills.
