City On Water is the first level of Painkiller's chapter 5. It appears in all difficulty modes except for Trauma difficulty - which disables all levels in chapter 5.

Description[]

This level is set in a medium-size city which mainly reflects Venice from Italy as creepy, abandoned, completely defaced and scaled down, overall damned and lost in isolation on a scary sunset. As the name implies it's surrounded by water which is deadly and causes instant death. While there are some famous landmarks from the original Venice such as the Basilica of St. Mark, the Palazzo Vecchio, the Rialto Bridge and the Doge's Palace, included in this hellish transformed city, the very famous St. Mark's Campanile and some other well known buildings and areas are not included.

Monsters[]

This level is inhabited by two kind of monsters who were encountered in Prison but with different abilities one new monster more. They include:

Tarot card[]

The tarot card of this level is Last Breath. To acquire it, the player has to find every secret place.

Secret areas/pickups[]

Five armors can be found in this level:

The first one (bronze) is inside a wooden crate in the open area at the beginning of the level.
The second one (gold) is on top of the tower of the tallest building in the city (connected with secret #3).
The third one (bronze) is in the open courtyard in the building in front of the basilica.
The fourth one (silver) is inside the wooden crate in the most left portion of the basilica.
The fifth one (gold) is in the closed tunnel inside the Dodge's Palace.

Secret 1	The first secret is located in the dim dead-end corridor next to the Rialto Bridge on the ground floor (the building that contains glass exhibitions). It is reached by crossing the small bridge that leads to the building and going straight into the secret area to the right.	Video
Secret 2	The second secret is located in the alcove in the white building in front of the open area with crates and Hell Bikers. It is reached by going to the edge next to the building and jumping into that alcove.	Video
Secret 3	The third secret is located on top of the tower of the tallest building in the city. It is reached by taking a silver barrel which is among green ones in the Rialto Bridge. Then roll that barrel and place it next to the metal crate at the beginning. Shoot it and it will reveal the trampoline that will take you to the top of the tower (make sure to land on the tower). Secret 4	The fourth secret is located on the third floor's balcony in the building to the left of the basilica. It is reached by: First kill all enemies in the basilica and return to the building with glass exhibitions. When the checkpoint appears try to climb onto the roofed bridge that connects two buildings by jumping onto the balcony and then climbing onto the roof. After successful climb, walk on the highest point of the bridge and jump onto the orange roof. From the roof jump onto some balconies of the buildings to the left side (jump onto third floor). Then jump onto alcoves with sculptures and then onto the balcony to the secret area.	Video

Description[]

This level is set in medium-size city which reflects Venice in a damned way and as the name implies is surrounded by water which is deadly and causes instant death. Although most of the buildings in this city are famous landmarks from Venice such as Basilica of St. Mark, The Rialto Bridge or Doge's Palace, the very famous St Mark's Campile and a few other buildings and areas are missing in this hellish, dooming transformed city.

Secret 1	The first secret is located beneath the Rialto Bridge on a small platform. To reach it the player has to jump onto a floating coffin beneath a smaller bridge. The coffin will move towards the platform so the player can collect the secret and then move towards the dock.	Video
Secret 2	The second secret is located in the dim dead-end corridor next to the Rialto Bridge on the ground floor (the building that contains glass exhibitions). It is reached by crossing the small bridge that leads to the building and going straight into the secret area to the right.	Video
Secret 3	The third secret is located on the windowsill of the building next to the building with the glass exhibitions. To reach it the player has to climb onto the roofed bridge that connects two buildings by jumping onto the balcony and then onto the windowsill with an armor and a holy item.	Video
Secret 4	The fourth secret is located inside the basilica under the roof of the left portion of the building when facing the main entrance. To reach it the player has to go onto the roof and then squeeze through one of the small windows to reach the holy item.	Video
