Flying Nun[]

Flying Nun (or "Nun Ghost" according to the booklet) is a female enemy that appears in Orphanage (Battle out of Hell and Hell Wars) and Graveyard.

She's the ghost of an old lady with a slim and tall body and a disfigured face: her mouth is always agape, and her eyes are sunken in and bruised. She wears a light livid nun costume habit with a golden cross necklace. She is missing her legs and the habit is torn off at the base. She can generate a ball of fire in her right hand and use it as a torch, or as a weapon.

The Flying Nun is a ghost, and as such, she can fly through walls. She will attack when the player gets within her field of vision by blowing a homing fireball with incredible accuracy that can go through walls. She won't attack the player if they are very close to her and, unlike other ghost enemies, she won't deal contact damage to them. She can't be hurt by anything except the flames of the Flamethrower, and the electricity from the Electrodriver (only the combo can target her).

In the Orphanage, the Flying Nun might be the guardian of the entire orphanage. She is first confronted in the library where she is patrolling the whole room; she doesn't trigger the battle music and doesn't get tracked by the compass, and if the player picks up the Shotgun, she will disappear. Later, she is encountered in the crypt beneath the orphanage; now, she triggers the battle music, gets tracked by the compass, and can be killed only by using the Flamethrower.

In the Graveyard, the Flying Nun can be seen calmly patrolling various areas of the graveyard, acting as an overseer; she doesn't trigger the battle music, doesn't get tracked by the compass, and won't attack the player if she spots them. Unfortunately, wherever she appears, a large group of monsters will come follow soon after she disappears from the area. If she is killed during this state, she won't drop any soul. She is also encountered for the last time in the final area where she will become hostile and reach extremely high flying speed.
