Pinocchio[]

Pinocchios (or "Pinokios" according to the booklet) are enemies that appear in Orphanage (Battle out of Hell and Hell Wars).

They are wooden puppets with golden masks and glowing red eyes. They wear blue checkered overalls and have the spine with rib cage from a human as their torso, the entire body being held together by chains. They also have glowing red marks on their arms that represent pentagrams, and the number "666" at the back of their head.

Pinocchios, at first, are inanimate props lying randomly across the room, that can blend within the scenery. However, when disturbed, their head will start to float, as if suddenly possessed, while trying to put itself on feet, and the eyes will also emit a greenish light that transitions to yellow, forming its pupils. After that, it will start giving chase to the one who disturbed it. Their only method of attacking is to extend their sharp nose to impale the target. Despite being puppets, they will still shed blood when damaged or gibbed.

They are usually the least threatening enemy when fighting, because they are immobile until disturbed, but in special cases, they can wake up other Pinocchios when killed, while hurting the player very slightly (this has happened only once in the entire series) and become a serious threat, due to their incredibly damaging attack. In its inanimate state, they are impossible to kill.

In Painkiller: Hell Wars, they are missing their glowing red eyes and their glowing red marks on their bodies.

Booklet Description[]

Even the toys in the Orphanage can be deadly. If you see these wooden puppets lying around, avoid touching or harming them at all costs. When they are disturbed in any way, Pinokios come to life and instantly seek out the creature that dared to wake them.

Trivia[]

  • The noise that the Pinocchio does are actually distorted cries and laughs of a baby.
  • Other enemies cannot disturb the Pinocchio, only the player directly.
  • The glowing eyes and the markings disappear when the Pinocchio is gibbed.

Pinocchio (Hell & Damnation)[]

Pinocchios (or "Pinokios") are enemies that appear in Opera (Campaign and Survival), Orphanage and Cemetery Halloween Edition.

They are wooden puppets with golden masks and glowing light yellow eyes. They wear blue checkered overalls and have the spine with rib cage from a human as their torso, the entire body being held together by chains. They also have glowing light yellow marks on their arms that represent pentagrams, and the number "666" at the back of their head. They also are noticeably covered in frost.

They never appear in an inanimate state and are always hostile, though, unlike their original counterparts, they are way less threatening, because they lack speed, and deal low damage. Their only method of attacking is to extend their sharp nose to impale the target.

Pinocchio's model replaces all of the other children's models, except Bag Baby, in the German version, due to Video Game Censorship in Germany regarding violence against children. Their gameplay functionality remains unchanged.

Pinokio (Multiplayer)[]

This monster is also playable as a multiplayer character, being called "Pinokio". They have a mature body with a separate wooden sharp nose and lack the frost on them.

Trivia[]

  • The noise that the Pinocchio does are actually distorted cries and laughs of a baby.
  • Unlike their original counterparts, these ones don't shed blood.
